It might get better over time, but currently anything that resembles content is all dev curated.
Agree with this, I'm running it on a 4k monitor and it looks fantastic but I'm getting bored with it - I'm probably only playing it now because it looks wonderful. The dog fights always seem to be with bots rather than real people.

Travelling between planets can be tedious, docking is simple now. I tend to just collect bounties so perhaps I'm missing something else, trading etc.

Is there a cheat code to enable auto docking like the original elite, that was one bit I couldn't be bothered with

Had any player interaction? Does it make a difference?

    Up to Dangerous now.

Quite hooked into the game - pretty sure I will eventually make Elite

However, it does need a lot off effort to get the inertia moving in the game i.e. to be able to afford the baddest, meanest ships which make the game worth playing.

Determined to start playing the game, so I ordered a proper joystick/thrust control thingy (oo-er missus). Did some of the training (manoeuvering, combat, take off and landing), and completed my first mission. I think I'll stick to solo mode for a while. Huge game, definitely value for money.

The graphics and gameplay are slightly better than the old BBC Micro version.

My daughter bought it for me. I've just got as far as starting the training and then thinking "what are the controls again?".

I've been playing a little oolite, which is quite fun as well.

Got it for Christmas - been playing it.

With the aid of side thrusters, which we didn't have in the original version - docking is a piece of cake - haven't scuffed the paintwork even once yet

Combat is incredibly hard - haven't got to grips with that yet.

As to general gameplay - mmm, I'll reserve judgement for a few weeks. Certainly I'm not sure I will be investing the time required to become Elite (again).

There are a few very annoying niggles, like being unable to Pause the game, even in Solo mode. Time continues even when you are not playing, so if you take on a mission which has 5 hours on it, you have to complete within 5 hours real time, not 5 hours of gameplay.

It's not a game you can easily dip in and out of (unlike Skyrim etc.)

Biggest mistake is a common one - in business, not just video games - trying to do something half-hearted.

Either make it a MMOPRG, or don't. ED is trying to be both - and I don't think it works.
