The fact that the SNP can turn around and say "look, we told you so!" if he does renege does put pressure on him and his buddies not to do so, though. I suspect they will delay it, however, especially since he's now promised it to the rest of the country too.

That's quite different because it would have been admitting the possibility of defeat before the vote. It would be shown as a weakness if he had considered the possibilty of a No vote.

The 3 amigos wrote a 'vow' to the people of Scotland and had it printed with their signatures on the front of the Daily Record. They agreed to keep to Gordon Brown's timetable and they've broke that promise less that 12 hours after the count was declared.

The Nos were warned about that because the same thing happened in 1979.

They promised to raise a motion in the HoC today according to their timetable. Cameron has said that the 2nd reading date won't happen then we have the GE which means it will get put further back. There is no guarantee that the three leaders who signed the 'vow' will be leading their parties after the GE.

Well Cameron has already started slipping and Miliband is not going to support Cameron's version so it will all get bogged down and the timetable will be reneged on.
