Well bearing in mind the big Indian consultancies are taking over the IT departments of most large clients and have shown triple figure growth coupled with the fact that 36% of all Tier1 visas issued are to Indians I don't think there is a need to generalise.

It's a hard nut to crack. Some industrial companies are investing in training young people, but they still have to compete with schools offering useless qualifications like 'Personal Shopper' and 'Public Relations Adviser'.

Indeed... where do we switch from supplementing our skilled workforce from overseas to having them fully replaced so we are unable to get any of our own grads trained up and skilled? It is a very dangerous and fine line IMO. I for one would not let my kids do IT as a career path now, but am sure many other industries are suffering.
