    Yeah I don't get the OP. Has the role been offered? If so why the f**k would you or more importantly the permie manager waste someone's time (and I know how it feels to have this done) if that person has a frozen p**s in hells chance of actually getting the position?

    Also how far does the poor sod have to travel for their doomed meeting?

    Bearing in mind you are providing a service to a client I don't think it is your role to either help with or call the shots on their interviews to be honest. I avoid this type of stuff like the plague. You get a bad egg and who do you think will get the blame? The permie manager or the contractor?

    As you are already in it is too late so IMO you see it through. It is not for you to be calling the shots on the permies hiring. If the guy you originally picked suddenly can't do the gig where will you be? No one to do the role and it was your decision? Not for me. Go through the motions, don't make any decisions that will leave you exposed and try not to get in to that again.... IMO of course.

    I don't understand this situation. Has this person P1 been made an official offer? Did P1 accept the offer? Is P2 still scheduled to be interview?
    If so why person P2 still going to be interviewed.
    If all of these questions are correct, why the bloody f**** are you and manager contributing to this waste of everybody's flaming time?

    I helped the client interview and hire another contractor.
    We will now be interviewing another person for the same role who will 90% will not get hired (unless he/she turns out to be an absolute superstar, which does not transpire from a CV)
    Does it make any sense to go through the motions with that person? My temptation is to recommend to the hiring manager to just inform the candidate that we have hired someone else.
