    To be fair I've threatened agencies that I would report them to get them to behave.

    Quite recently there was another agency texting me junk and I threatened to report them if they didn't stop as I rung them up and they ignored me. It did help that people were being threatened with being fined for spam texting people......

    You need to understand what a contract is first, I think. You using words like "employer" or "job" doesn't help (no disrespect).

    We are suppliers of services, who are looking for clients to supply services too. We are not temps looking for an employer.

    The main thing that deters me from using job boards is their persistent spamming. I can think of one in particular, whose name is only one letter different from your username of "ijobboard", who bought my details from the travesty of a recruitment agency that is Progressive. They then proceeded to spam me relentlessly, despite my using their joke of an "opt opt" system to inform them of my preference that they not do so. It was only when I eventually reported them to the ICO that they finally stopped sending me their crappy "surveys" and unsolicited job specs for roles that were both unrelated to my skills and inappropriate to my level of experience.

    Bottom line, I wouldn't use a job board if you paid me to. Instead, I have an online blog and other materials to advertise myself, and am capable of using resources like Google and LinkedIn to identify organisations that I may want to work for and that have vacancies available.

    1. Access to the market. Without a steady flow of UK-wide qualified leads you're of no use.

    2. Use of PCG-standard contracts or something very close to it.

    3. Key logistical data such as rate, location and planned duration.

    4. Absolute clarity that the contract is between the contractor's Ltd Co and the client. My biggest bugbear in the current market is that agencies invariably sell themselves as owners of the resource rather than as a sales channel.

    For the commercial stuff, actually it isn't relevant; we can always issue an invoice (some of us are quite good at it). The more you wrap up the service in adminstrivia the harder it is for us to demonstrate we're running a real business

    I'm direct with the client and I wouldn't dream of putting anyone or anything between me and them.

    And that includes you.

    (Client has their own on-line timesheets and I run FreeAgent for invoicing, contract came from PCG, etc...)
