Don't mind him. He lost his lollipop lady job for misuse of the equipment and he's still bitter. Still they wrote a sing about him but it's NSFW (unless it's the old man's line of work).Originally posted by northernladuk View PostLollipop person doesn't count. Iv'e got two clients now as well and was pleased about it.
One is only a £500 a month retainer thing to be available if they need to call me in the evening but. nevertheless, surely it all helps me look more like a business?

While the letter of the law says it's contract-specific, HMRC seem at least partly interested in the "common sense" reading of your situation, hence the fact working conditions rather than contract terms are important. So working multiple contracts makes it much more clear you are genuinely freelancing, not simply trying to avoid tax on your permanent job.
My £0.02 anyway. HMRC will do as they please.

IR35 is considered on a contract by contract basis. You could be inside IR35 twice!!

Wow. Two clients, first time ever.
As well as working part time for my current client, I'm about to fill the rest of my week up in with another client.
The new role is interesting, it's looking at the business from inside-out and optimising in sense of operations processes, with focus on project / programme management, audibility, methodology, etc. Said would lead on to a director level role should I want that. The role is initially p/t than full time in the next couple of months as my current contract expires.
Guess this means that's I'm more IR35 proof...
