They weren't when I tried to cancel a virtual office contract with less than 15 months notice.

Mini scrum training / product backlog creation session... What?!!!!
Will "ClientCo" feel your sincerity as you attempt to "take them through a mini scrum training / product backlog creation session"? If so you are both perfectly matched.Originally posted by Cr1spy View PostMy first task is to take ClientCo product owner through a mini scrum training / product backlog creation session.

Thanks for the positive feedback.Originally posted by Fred Bloggs View PostSounds a great start to contracting, good luck. There are loads of options for the meeting including motorway services, golf clubs, pubs, hotels, restaurants etc.. All the above offer business services these days.
I actually just booked with Regus and I must say that their customer support is pretty damn slick. The call centre girls I spoke with were actually happy and helpful!!!

Thanks for the suggestion. I do plan to do this for some future meetings. However, this inital planning session needs some real face to face time.Originally posted by GillsMan View PostWhy not use web conferencing? GoToMeeting or WebEx or something like that?
The client isn't really up on his tech, so it's going to be an old school record cards and marker pens job!

The kind that (I thought) contracting should keep my out of. I think there is a board room coup on the cards and the result of this contract is going to supply the ammo.Originally posted by jmo21 View PostWhat kind of politics stops you from having a meeting with your client at their office?

Lots of Starbucks now-a-days have free meeting rooms which you can book. Would probably make sense to ring a round a few and see whether there's anything available for when you want it.

And you arranged that in advance ?Originally posted by Cr1spy View PostThanks for the fast response! I'll check out regus. Then expense the room back to the client, woo-ha-ha!

Regus or www.mwbex.com/ are the obvious bets. Either that or find a local countryside hotel and see what that will cost for a small meeting room with lunch attached.Originally posted by Sockpuppet View PostRegus or most decent hotels will have syndicate rooms or a resturant/bar.
If you don't need a white board and can sit round a table go for the hotel approach. I've used the Landmark a few times for this sort of thing (but that is central london).

Meeting room required.
After a month of planning, meetings, estimates, worry, sleepless nights, revised estimates and stress I have finally managed to bag my first contract. It's direct with a client, so I had to do most of the leg work getting it setup.
Initially, it's only a 6 week engagdement with a possible 6 months there-after (if all goes well). So I'm fairly chuffed.
My first task is to take ClientCo product owner through a mini scrum training / product backlog creation session. The trouble is I need somewhere to do it!
I'm home based and don't have the space to host a planning session. The ClientCo offices are a no-no too (internal politics).
Any ideas on a where I can get access to a meeting room somewhere near south west M25 (junction 5 - 15)?
Being a permy for the last 15 years, I've taken meeting facilities as granted!Tags: None
