if you cant drive, then what about public transport? I dont think you cant manage the interview because of the thump problem, can you? C'mon, it'd be tiring but it'll get you something in the end btw. G'luck!

If I'm reading between the lines correctly, the OP is thinking that SSP is paid by the government. It isn't. It's paid by the employer, so paying SSP rather than normal salary isn't going to save you money.
However, in some instances, some can be reclaimed - see Getting subsidies or relief for statutory sick pay | Business Link - whether this applies to a 1 man LtdCo I've no idea. I'd suggest checking with your accountant.

Broken Thumb
If you have interviews arranged, make every effort to go rather than cancel for (what others perceive as) a minor issue of a broken thumb. You did not become a contractor so you could claim permie benefits did you????

There is no point missing out on a contract as SSP is not exactly a large amount.
And the information on SSP is here - Statutory Sick Pay : Directgov - Money, tax and benefits You need to let your accountant know that you want to claim it.
I am going to go for the interviews by train and taxi. Se how that goes.

Why would you want to claim SSP? If there's funds in your company account then just take out a divi or am I missing something?

Football is a girls game anyway, play rubgy or something a bit more physical.
