You may wish to check jobserve. Plenty of IB roles in the rate range he quoted. I know, I'm currently working on one of them.
arrogant [ árrəgənt ]
adjective
Definition:
proudly contemptuous: feeling or showing self-importance and contempt for others
[14th century. Via French< Latin arrogant-, present participle of arrogare 'claim for yourself' < rogare 'ask']
Did I say that these rates are impossible? They are not. I just said that we cannot jump to the conclusion that a role at RBS might necessarily pay that range at this specific time.

It sounds like a great role, just look at it as a long term contract as soon as you say it's 'permanent' you may run a mile...Good luck with whatever you decide to do.Originally posted by Soled73 View PostThe positon is Head of Infrastructure - Wintel Services"
Not meaning to go off topic but could you share what your experience is and how long it has taken you to get to this level? No problem if not
It's a role I would be very interested in obtaining and I feel after 13 years of contracting, 5 of which in infrastructure roles I still imagine I may have a long way to go

Why speculation? TA roles regularly attract £700 a day (Im in the running for one at the moment. You can bet that they don't get out to jobserve) a basic unix engineering role at an average IB will regularly pay to the mid £500's...Originally posted by Francko View Postspeculation [ spéky láysh'n ] (plural speculations)

Maybe too much office politics involved? Hard to say until you try. Also no guarantee that you will be excluded from office politics just because you are a contractor. I'd take the offer if you are happy with everything.Originally posted by Soled73 View PostThe positon is Head of Infrastructure - Wintel Services"

I agree on the outlook for 2010. But once QE starts being withdrawn there will be alot of pain to be shared round. And I suspect the banks will be asked to contribute alot. Possibly we will see banks(like JP Morgan or Goldmine Sucks) withdrawing from the UK.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostI was refering to situations such as Barclays shedding all 650 contractors at Radbroke last December plus the raft of 4 figure job losses announced at most of the big names over the past year. The placed I have heard of have had a fairly turbulent year with contractors and permies alike starting to worry about their jobs however secure they seemed to be prior to this marlarky. It appear that is over now and its all hands to the pump.

May I ask for which position? Would you be happy in that role?Originally posted by Soled73 View PostAssuming you had decided to take up permi position somewhere, would you consider a move to RBS, salary £80k benefits on top?
Is it a good place to work for the next 3-5 years?

Once a year you waste a day filling in a form and spending a couple of hours telling your boss how great you are and why you deserve a big raise. Then you probably get a raise. And, you get paid for the wasted day.
