    Moving into a Permi role.

Assuming you had decided to take up permi position somewhere, would you consider a move to RBS, salary £80k benefits on top?

Is it a good place to work for the next 3-5 years?

Why bother with contracting if you can get a salary like that?

Because it's not all about the money...

Exactly - hence my Q. We all now know the value of "job security" but my biggest problem with this position is regrding the job satisfaction - it's my absolute ideal job.

by the same token I have a mate there says it totally sucks. It depends where you are and your team. i think that was highlighted in a post on here where some guy laughed all day but another contractor could see him down the hallway and was ready to jump out the window.

The fact they seem to be happy to stand up for their pay/bonus and not get pushed about shows some strength and independance with the safety of being proped up by us so sounds like best of both worlds.

Banks can't get any worse it seems so get in now and ride the wave

This is your ideal job and is going to pay £80k permie. Take the job, see how it goes - if after a year it's not for you then you can leave...simples?

No amount of feedback from anonymous contributors on a bulletin board is substitution for doing the above.

                WHS^

My mates been contracting for RBS on-and-off (mostly "on") for the last 5 years. He's turned down all attempts they've made to make him go permie.

                  80k + 9% pension + 5 weeks holiday + training.

I'd take it... but depends what your other options are.
