i think nov is a bad time to be out of contract. unless you want a nice fat xmas break. the only positives tend to be the jobs being touted as new year projects begin ramp up.

actually, any time of year is a bad time to be out of contract,

Last year I was benched early december till March and the market was awful - not sure if that was the recession or if it is normally like that? Bit worried that November is not probably a great time to be looking for a contract.....
Looking at the commute as being paid £75 or so each way would certainly dull the pain! I would go for the higher rate and longer contract personally. Not being on the bench in November could be worth a lot...

There's usually around a 9 month lag between stockmarket and "real life" so even if we get a retracement, I think the effects of the recent rally will still dominate for a while.

    My crystal ball says No.

The only other answer it gives is Yes, so I'm not so sure that it's relevant in this case.

It could be very good. Or very bad. Or somewhere in between.

"The market" normally means how many contracts there are. What is really important however is the number of contracts per (competent) available contractor.

Christmas and summer are always poor 'markets', but I've found contracts in both periods without difficulty due in part to lack of candidates.

Anyway I don't care about November. Spring '10 is all that matters to me

Looks like the business case for my next project is going to a funding review. So I'm likely out the door early Nov.
