Yeah, trivial. Can't see what the fuss is about.
I didnt say it was a "trivial" matter...

You only actually fill in the forms (yes, they're in-depth and that can take some time) and have a lengthy interview.

All the investigative work mentioned above is done by other people in the background as part of the vetting process. So, it's not exactly a load of hassle but it's not trivial either.

Also, I would hope that if you lost it you would soon realise when the burly security guards turn up at your desk!

I meant the hassle of continually transfering it, maintaining it. So when you get your DV clearance report back when you`re told after landing a new gig that you can`t start for another x weeks until yet another BC is done, tell me it`s not a hassle.

I don`t think it`s £150 more a day. I`m seeing DV cleared jobs advertised at low rates at the moment

You can also easily lose it also, without realising it

Sounds like a good trade for an extra £150/day

It costs, but those costs have to be budgetted for in the original cost justification. Similarly, prime contractors have to reserve funds to manage uncleared personnel. So it's not a money issue, unless of course you would rather not spend the money by not taking on uncleared people...

    Simples...

From what I have seen I don't think the end client suffers from to much inconvenience when putting someone through the clearance. It's just a case of waiting.

    Doesn't it cost though?

Why would they lie? If the client wants only cleared applicants then they aren't going to waste their time and slots submitting a non-cleared CV. If on the other hand the client were to say he prefers SC but will clear an individual who is an otherwise ideal match then they would submit that surely?

All said and done they want to make money so they will submit whoever they think is most likely to get the gig.
