Desperate time calls for desperate measures...
I'm a permie since March - and it is rather crap, honestly!

Personally I'd rather be Larry Blackmon's red codpiece than go perm, but needs must and all that, good luck with it.

Thanks all. There are some good ol' salts around here so I'll be sure to call in from time to time.

Well done mate! I wouldn't criticise anyone at the moment - £20 an hour or permie for a while, we've all got a living to make.
So you've skilled up while you were off, you're going to get a couple of years worth on the cv - kerching in 2011!

Good for youOriginally posted by TheRefactornator View PostIt's mostly .NET Mobile / web / desktop software development with a bit of legacy maintenance chucked in on classic ASP and VB.
Good luck with it, hopefully you can go contract again when the market recovers.

Don't go! there are loads of permies who are regulars around here!Originally posted by TheRefactornator View PostThe title says it all really. For me the contract market has been dead for months, I've been benched since the beginning of last October and the war chest is now empty.
On the up side the perm role work is interesting, it's a big company in the North West that seem fairly recession proof and it won't do the CV any harm for a medium term stint..well maybe a couple of years.
Montana will have to wait.

I was a permy last Wednesday after a spell of six months in the wilderness. It didn't last. I left this Monday, which was too quick to even get my P45 over to personnel.
