The application process takes anything between 6 weeks to 1 year. So it wouldn't be worth it unless you are looking at a contract that lasts for more than 1 year, or if you are prepared to wait a year before you start working there. (Worst case scenario).

It's not like it's hard to disappear enough to make tracing you reasonably difficult. And it they still won't disappear, take out a restraining order.

I'm not criticizing here, I'm genuinely baffled.
Would it help if I said that I need a roof over my head? Currently living at home, have some personal debts...only savings I have personally accumulated is my pension (not much of one to be honest). Once I have given up the gambling habit, I'll save up some money for a deposit for a new house and wait for the Credit Crunch Crisis to die down significantly.

However, if you know my family, they would firmly place a solid steel boot up my posterier if they ever found out what I do week in / week out

It was an interview for a contract. Some will call it a job interview, some will call it a contract meeting, some will call it something else. I'll leave it up to you to call it whatever you want.

I'm quite open about my finances with everyone other than my parents. I've never had a relationship before... don't really have any friends... a bit of a loner. I would probably buckle under the pressure in the interview. Would end up making up that I went out with Keira Knightley just to shut 'em up.

I know a lot of people get hung up on DV but i didnt find anything untoward with it, as long as you are honest and up front.

I know of somebody who had a fair bit of debt through a failed business venture who went through the DV process, he told them about it, what he was doing about it etc and he had no problems.

I would recommend that if the position is one that want do not let the DV process be the reason for not pursing it.

In this particular occasion it wasn't the only reason. One (of the three) interviewers muttered the words "Disappointed with the answer" after I attempted to answer his qustion and the other interviewers were stiff necked for a long part of the interview... that pretty much sealed it for me. It also didn't help that one of their questions were vague... even after I asked them to clarify.

Oh they wouldn't disclose information to your relatives deliberately and they would avoid implying stuff in their questions too. Don't forget the DVA use experienced interrogators.

My objections are on the grounds that I'm a private person so don't want someone rummaging around in my life to that extent.
