On a very dull conf call, so I had a quick search on Jobserve for all infosec manager contract jobs in last week paying £40+ per day.

It returned 1625 jobs. Make of that what you will. It's getting to convince a pimp that you can hit the ground running. You may have to tweak your CV to make it more "contractor-friendly", what that entails is up to you.

    Good luck.

    HTH.
Yes ... something else to ponder that...! Thanks...

All of which would give you a flavour of the eventual worth of a return.

    Thanks...! Sage advice...

started a topic Is it worthwhile going back to contracting?

Is it worthwhile going back to contracting?

    Hi there,

Apologies if this is the wrong thread...

    I'm a 30+ year veteran of data/computer/IT/information security ... and a Kiwi with a British Passport.

Now I've contracted in the UK before - but that was 15+ years ago, hence my question here.

I returned back in late 2017, and scored a permie role as an InfoSec Manager in London, but my position has frankly, become untenable ... my company want to move me from the governance department into IT (talk about rolling back the clock, yeah!).

While I'm very much 'hands-off' technically, I specialise in information security governance, framework creation, compliance, risk, policy, management, and consultation. I've got great experience of ISO 27001 (started out with BS7799 years ago!), PCI DSS, GDPR (of course!), etc.

A long-winded post but here's my question: Would it be worth while me going back to contracting again?

    Cheers...

Working...
