If it's DXC then saying so isn't causing any issues. Same with GCHQ/BT etc. (note I've never been sponsored by any of those organisations so I'm just guessing)
If of course it's a little company, doing secret squirrel stuff for the Ministry of Special Affairs (Dirty Tricks dept.) then you're probably right.
There are companies who claim to be sponsors who aren't though. That's why I asked the question as 12 months seems an awful long time and I would expect a sponsor to have escalated, or sacked the OP. So my guess is that it's a company who is supplying services to the actual sponsor. But that's speculation.

Could her previous history be the hold up?

How long could it take till I get an answer?
Is there less chance of getting Clearance, the longer it drags on for?
Are there cases where the status stays in progress indefinitely?
I presume so otherwise you'd have given up by now.
If so, and the sponsor is comfortable, why worry? If you fail they bin you, if you wait you get paid.
Are you willing to share who the sponsor is?

I have spoken to my sponsors and they advise its is simply a waiting game as the clearance is based on each individuals case...
Are you sure you have no overdrawn credit cards or something similar? I know one case where clearance wasn't granted until the guy had paid off a credit card in his name that was being used by his ex-wife. He didn't find that out until he had independently discovered the problem and sorted it; hey presto...

Are you marrying one of my grandsons? If so, we are waiting for the press to do the hard work for us. If not, it might be worth enquiring to your sponsor what they think the status is.
