OP would not laugh too much £17ph is the going rate nowadays for a lot of these roles outside the banking sector!
-
That's what I do with my usual customers. However, they are down to 1 IT admin and there is a lot of work.Originally posted by mall View PostCould you not offer to support them on an adhoc basis. And just charge for the hours you work, rather than having an agreed 3 day/week contract, then just charge £100 per hour. Until they find someone.
I like being busy, however at £17ph, after tax, accountant etc etc, it will be more likely £5 haha
It's not even worth thinking about now. I laughed for a good 30 mins when I found out the rate.

80ph is fantasy rates nowadays for support. If you can get 40 ph for most support roles would be a miracle due to all the cut price johnny experts in the market!

Don't get me wrong, I've never considered a contract being inside IR35 a no-go if the conditions are right (good rate, low expenses as a bare minimum); I just wanted the OP to be aware of the situation and the tax implications.Originally posted by kaiser78 View PostThis may not be a problem and worth taking the hit if it is just a 3-6 month contract - at least OP can say they have a contract under their belt when they start looking for the next one.

Not sure what help that is? And a contract with your ex-employer isn't going to mean much to people in the know TBH.Originally posted by kaiser78 View PostThis may not be a problem and worth taking the hit if it is just a 3-6 month contract - at least OP can say they have a contract under their belt when they start looking for the next one.
