As even if you have a signed timesheet a client can argue you haven't done the work and refuse to pay. This means you need other proof you have.

2) What does the contract say about needing a timesheet?
Because if the first answer is "yes" then the second answer is crucial. If the first answer is "no" then the second answer is irrelevant.
You say: "What is your opt in/out status. If you have done it right they will have to pay you even without a signed time sheet."
It was a starter for 10 so hopefully he could go read up on it in great detail as this could be his best bet out of this. I couldn't be bothered to go find all the links to feed him it TBH.
