That was certainly my thinking...most of the "an honest man has nothing to fear!" statements seem to support that conclusion...

@WTF: If the sarcasm is good, we do it. Sadly, not much of it is worth acknowledging as such in my experience...

    Hurrah for the blackshirts

    You've got me there.

(Sean might not get that one as his nationality don't do sarcasm)

I read some very inexactly, and mostly via their websites.

That one has been answered already several times.

No evidence that the jobs were IT contracting.

Sorry mate, but you seem to be applying employee rules to contractors, and that's not how it works.

BTW, my real name is "foreign sounding" to many people who interview me, in fact even those whose native language is similar to mine sometime struggle to pronounce it correctly.
I have worked in several countries where my native language is not their native language. I have also worked in places where my perceived background could have been seen as a good reason not to employ me (based on things which have happened in the last 100 years)
That's great. I didn't realise that people who contract are exempt from the same societal issues as full-time staff. What paper do you read, exactly?

I did update the post with an additional article.

My point was very simple: OP asked is it even legal to ask for a photo after stating his CV was "of interest" and I expressed surprise any employer would ask for one prior to booking an interview for fear of being accused of being discriminatory if the interview didn't go ahead following receipt of photo. No need to argue the toss.
