I know it is only when one is looking for work does one notice these things. I reckon I have received up to 50 unique calls from job firms in the last two month of my search. I am assuming this is very a lucrative field.

Who cares? Getting 50 'cold' calls is not an indication of a bouyant market. Its just a sign of a lot of agents cold calling.

This and even within agencies I have had cases where I had calls from 3 recruiters from the same agency calling for the same job (existing or non existing)

Some of these agencies badge themselves as 'recruitment agencies', but wouldn't even to be able to spell the word recruitment if it was held up in front of them...
