Since 2010 the MP has visited the US, Germany, Nigeria, Venezuela and Antigua for speeches and summits. She picked up £2,967 in travel expenses for the trip to Venezuela “to witness the presidential election”. For the visit to the Antigua Trades and Union summit in 2014, her £5,380 expenses were paid by her hosts.
Since 2003 she has also been paid around £185,000 as a pundit on BBC1 politics programme This Week. And in 2006 the BBC gave her £14,326 to spend a week in Jamaica for Play It Again. Ms Abbott has also made a packet on her constituency home in Hackney, East London, which is worth well over £1million.
Problem is the Tory MPs made more money than the opposition.
