Yeah but who cares - auto industry will go bust anyway by 2200 at the latest, so why bother anyway?

The decision in 2014 was to scale back production. The decision to withdraw from the UK completely was taken this year, and is almost certainly due to the combination of Brexit and the EU-Japan trade deal.

So, your straw man is that Ford aren't going to produce internal combustion engines anymore, therefore there's nothing for the UK manufacturing business.
Is it because you don't think the UK is a capable country for manufacturing electric motors? I mean, based on your John Redwood list, once we're out of the EU we'll be brilliantly placed without all those barriers.
Why isn't Ford investing in electric motor and transmission manufacturing in the UK?
Go on, Mr Strawman, answer that simple one.

Can I prove anything would have happened if we had remained? No I can't. I can't PROVE it would be better, in the same way you can't prove it would be worse.
But since the referendum nothing has happened in the UK anyway, apart from further division.
Electric cars are less than 1% of all cars sold and that won't be changing soon, so when a factory closes it isn't because they're switching to manufacturing electric cars.

You're the one that linked to John Redwood's list of unrelated subjects, I just added a few more that are equally true.

Oh yeah, and before we joined the EU we had pounds, shillings and pence. In the last 40+ years it's been this "decimalised currency" stuff.
Before joining the EU, petrol was 55 pence a gallon.
    etc.

How joining the EU led to a big decline in UK industry

Perhaps remain might like to answer the following questions:Why have we suffered industrial decline and closures with production shifting elsewhere in Europe since joining the EEC?
Why do trade in surplus with the rest of the world but have such a huge deficit with the EU?
Why have we ended up importing fish, electricity, steel and much else when we used to self sufficient?

I hope that there is going to be some dispensation for those of us with diesel guzzling multi-ton motorhomes!
A battery driven electric motors just won't cut it.

    Ford Focus Electric - Wikipedia

and its likely that Ford will want to put them in low cost countries in eastern Europe probably with an EU grant like they have for the last few decades.

Yes if they stick with hybrids there will be transmission units & motors but most governments are forcing them to go Electric only.
