The key part is: ' the Government of the time'... Since then we had one GE and 2 different PMs, so do you consider it is still the same government!?

If we get a new GE (again) and elect a new government, then you will accept if the new government will ignore promises made by a different government!?

It's fair to say that the electorate was asked to give advice in an advisory referendum and gave bad advice (to be fair, it was a poorly framed question). So we should certainly respect that the electorate did their best, and then Parliament's job is decide what to do within the context of that advice.

So we should certainly respect that the electorate did their best, and then Parliament's job is decide what to do within the context of that advice.

Should a "result" be respected that was based on patently false promises/threats?
Or once those promises/threats have been shown to have been false (no extra money for the NHS, no great trade deal, no Turks ever likely to invade the country en masse) should the people decide again?

A democrat might suggest the latter.
I, and a few others, prefer the former since (1) the chaos is likely to benefit me and (2) it teaches the great unwashed a lesson.
