Exactly I wasn't saying that others didn't also have empires and didn't obtain them in the same violent way. I was saying either that we didn't leave our colonial countries in a better state than others (think Belgium and Rwanda) but was correcting the dimwit who is so delusional to think we are a peace loving country and all the other foreigners are the baddies.

If you really want a great post Empire feeling then pray you get the French, Belgians or Germans as your Imperial power then you will really feel the benefit.

Everyone was at it, ours was at times mild in comparison

It's time for France to face its past and debate crimes against humanity

Don't forget the Romans, Alexander & the Hun. They were real charmers.

While you are in sack cloth remember we bought the slaves of someone & succeeded in dividing the warring tribes in most states to win with significantly inferior numbers.

In living memory we have tried to atone for a our sins & become a global policeman with the US and to a lesser extent other world nations.

We were told before we voted out that the EU was solely responsible for 40 years peace by pro EU sources.
This of course is Bollox, quite frankly Morecambe & Wise did more.
    More whataboutism.

How about you get that chip off your shoulder?

And to bring it back on topic, how do those arm sales to Saudi Arabia fit in with your rose-tinted view of Britain as the peacemakers?

(By the way, the EU being responsible for peace within Europe is partly due to the UK (Churchill) recognising that this was the best way. The UK, being within and a part of the EU, helped to make this happen)

Well its an EU approved statement not a UK one.

The UK has history preserving world peace, despite the guff most remoaners spout the EU has done F all.

The Commonwealth via the UK Foreign Secretary has said the coup was a moment of hope and requested it stayed non violent.

It never complimented the Spanish on clubbing voters or pulling their hair so we have the moral high ground.

Oh sorry the point is that Junkcer can spout whatever tulip he wants but actions speak louder than words and actions are pretty rare for the EU.

The president of the EU commission Mr Jean-Claude Junker has openly made a serious touching statement as well as warning the Nigerian security personnel against their ill hearted and unprofessionalism in handling democratic issues and the rights of the people… Junker directed a serious caution towards the Nigerian Military chiefs stating that they must employ every democratic tenet in handling issues that concerns disgruntle and agitations.
