Yup can't argue that but the fact you made the effort to check them yourself 3 times would give you the perfect platform. The few I have in mind were first time shots by the poster with no justification or effort.

I suspect that might have more to do with how much future business negative posts can cost them, rather than the companies being shining examples of virtue.Originally posted by northernladuk View PostIndeed. Having seen how easy year end accounts are (and having had to check my own accountants and point out the mistakes to them three times) Id have been quite tempted to do them myself if I were the op.

Indeed. We have had a couple of people take to the keyboard 'naming and shaming' in the last year and from what I can remember all were resolved by contacting the organisation in question. Two stand out where the OP had their asses handed to them on a plate in the public forum which was quite amusing.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostI've seen elsewhere that some people, as soon as they don't understand a charge or fee assume they're being ripped off, instead of proceeding sensibly and querying it. So why not edit your OP to show this.Originally posted by dene22 View PostThanks for all the feedback. It turned out to be my misunderstanding.
Having already paid my monthly fees up to my company year end, 30 April, I've been informed there are no further fees to process the final accounts.
After which I'll keep my company dormant for a while.
That's better!

But this is why we would always suggest contacting the company you have an issue with rather than raising it on a public forum before doing so

and I used to think the local shop changes owners each year to get a tax break - didn't realise it was to pay zero tax!Originally posted by cojak View PostI heard that news too, that can't be right though, surely?

Just do what 0.5M other businesses did last year, submit no accounts, have the company struck off, pay no taxes and don't get investigated!

OP- I think you'll find, as others have said, that its in your T+Cs.
Gotta to admit though I would be a bit wassed off if I worked for one month then had to pay the full amount for 11 months. After all, even though there is still the end of year to do potentially there is a bit less of the normal stuff to do each month so I'd be asking for a 50% discount at least.
To be honest, I think my accountants - NW - have said they'd consider this if it ever happened.

I thought it was a lot more than that if the company needs liquidating now ESC16 has gone? 3-6K was mentioned in other threads. This may not be what he needs to do of course.Originally posted by jmo21 View PostThat being said, I have no idea how much my own accountant would charge me to close down my company. I just informed SJD Accountancy that I'm looking to leave SJD and make my limited company dormant as I only worked a couple of contracts in 2011. The last job I did was in September.
I'm quite shocked at SJD's response that I'm required to pay a whole year's fees to prepare the final accounts documents:
My company year end is 30 April and I pay a monthly fee of £126.
SJD claim to have no entry or exit fees but this seems like a very hefty exit fee. I'd appreciate anybody's opinions...
Everyone has jumped on him for the common moan about 1/12 yearly accounts fee per month, when he is actually talking about the closing down of the company.
He has been paying his £126 pcm all year (I assumed) ahead of his end of year April 30th and is now being asked for a whole years fees for company closure.
So slightly different as to what everyone has jumped on him for.
That being said, I have no idea how much my own accountant would charge me to close down my company. A whole years fees perhaps

I'm very sorry to read this complaint; I would suggest you discuss this with the Regional Director firstly.
Please can you PM me or email daniel.mossatsjdaccountancy.com with the name of your accountant and which region you are in. I will happily investigate this for you, speak to your accountant and see if there are any other options that might be available.
Thank you
