I don't like the new system. Personally I liked it when the form came through followed up with a horrible letter a month later when you forgot it. It's up to me now to make sure I do it now.

You can set up for an email reminder to be sent each quarter if you are set up for online filing.

I have set up a DD for mine, much easier, I forget about the cash in the account, I just take my salary and dividends, so anything left in is unused profit and taxes not yet paid.

And with DD they take 6 weeks to take the money. My 30th Nov return has just been taken day before yesterday.Originally posted by Greg@CapitalCity View PostGood. So you have until 31 Jan 2012 to file the return, and any VAT due must be paid by 07 Feb 2012.
As a tip, when you are logged in online there is an option to set-up a Direct Debit to pay your VAT. Its worthwhile doing to save yourself a small amount of admin having to remember to make the payment yourself.
I would much prefer they took it as soon as the return was filed as I hate having that extra x000 of their money in my account.

Isn't the filing deadline also 07 Feb 2012 for online returns? (as one might expect the accountant is doing)Originally posted by Greg@CapitalCity View PostGood. So you have until 31 Jan 2012 to file the return, and any VAT due must be paid by 07 Feb 2012.

Return was due on the 31/12 or vat period ended on the 31/12?Originally posted by houmie View PostHi,
My accountant is "expanding" recently and is overwhelmed with work. My VAT due was on 31/12/2011 and they seem to have forgotten about it. Today I realised I still haven't even submitted the numbers to my accountant as they haven't asked for it yet.
I have logged in the HMRC site. but there is no section where I can see the status of my company, like how much have been paid and when the next due would be.
Can someone help please?
Kind Regards,

I have found it. Thank you very much.Originally posted by TheFaQQer View PostIf you register for being able to do the VAT return online, then when you log in to pay it, it lists the details of the returns there. IIRC, it's also on your VAT certificate, but I haven't got mine handy to check.
Once you are registered for doing it online, they email you a reminder, rather than you getting a paper form to complete.

New accountant time. Luckily enough we have had a poll recently for the best accountants. How lucky!
