If you are not going to help yourself the board will not be sympathetic that is for sure.Originally posted by Jeystone View Postby sympathizer I mean doesn't seem to be interested in setting up the best structure for me and my business..She failed to mention that dividends could be taken monthly and set me up PAYE, so now I am paying 3 different flavours of tax leaving me with....fck all

Why do you say that? What has given you that impression?Originally posted by Jeystone View PostI have a feeling my accountant is a bit of a HMRC sympathiser and is going to cost me a lot of tax I could legally avoid. Are there ways one can ask HMRC to recalculate?

As I keep saying, use an accountant by all means but always find out things for yourself too so you can keep a check. Some accountants are good but some are bloody awful and are reactive rather than proactive, they don't tell anything you unless you ask a question.

You can submit amended accounts after the fact if you find things that have been omitted or miscalculated, although it's obviously not going to look great on your record that you've done so.
You'd be better to find a new accountant if you don't trust him, do your own research so you can question him if you do decide to stay, or get another expert to review the accounts before they are signed off.
