    Norla - latest ?

Naturally, this does not read so good. The intro to said booklet also mentions they generally execute such investigations where 'they believe there may have been a serious loss of tax'.

I am out of the EBT scheme at the end of December regardless, but wondering just how worried I should be about this notification. Is it different from previous?

Oh - and 1st post so hello to all!

Hi Peter, waht was the outcome of your investigation? i have now received a Special Investigation notice in relation to my 10 month use of the Norla.edge EBt scheme in 2008.

And were Noral/edge helpful in providing you the information you needed?

A colleague of mine had a letter from HMRC a while back, hasn't heard anything else (yet). He's changed to a different offshore scheme now, Sanzar I think. I can't see this helping his case.

I was considering Norla's EBT a few months back, very glad I decided to go Ltd again instead, thanks partly to this board. Seems to be much easier running a ltd than I remember it was 10 years ago with so many online services available, and a better accountant. (NW)

I did read in the paper recently the gov wants HMRC to be more aggressive in persuing tax avoidance due to falling tax revenues at a time when the gov needs more cash. Pretty obvious they'd do that though I guess. Good luck.

    @ Gizza

I Too have recieved one or two infact, a bit strange as i have had a tax rebate on one of the years concerned.

It reads the same as you have stated, what was the outcome on your reply to HMRC

I know a couple of other guys who also received the letter and was wondering whether any users on here got a similar one ?

I think if we can share ideas and information on here, its going to benefit us all.

    Cheers

    Gizza / Mutur,

Have you heard any more from the HMRC? What was the outcome of this?

I used Edge / Norla last year. I haven't received a letter but am nervous as to what might happen with this. I'm also starting a new contract soon and was going to go via the EBT route again but am having second thoughts now.

    Newbies beware!

Never trust the word of a poster with 1 post to his name who sings the praises of an agent/umbrella company/dodgy tax evasion scam...

Bit of a non arguement there.

They'd never close this loophole, that would be like introducing a 50% tax rate. Which is exactly what they've done.

Unless I'm missing the sarcasm here.

    TazMaN - thank you.

I've contacted my agency about re-issuing a contract, I think I am going to go the Limited route. Just feels a bit 'safer'. Very new to all this and finding the forums invaluable.

You can change to Ltd / Umbrella mid-contract : just ask your agency to re-issue a contract to you with the new Ltd Co details.
