Go to companieshouse.gov.uk and read the relevant notes. It isn't difficult. IIRC balance sheet and directors notes. But the notes do change occasionally over the years, so you need to go an check anyway.

Assuming you qualify as a small business then you can submit a set of abbreviated accounts which is just a balance sheet and some notes. There's a PDF to download (after logging in to CH) and you enter your figures into that. It does some validation and then you can submit to CH straight from the PDF. I'm the process of filling in the PDF myself.

If your long-term strategy is to do your own accounts I would pay an accountant to at least look them over.

And what yuo need to submit to CoHo is an abbreviated balance sheet in statutory format plus notes.

What you need to submit to HMRC is (generally) full accounts including Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss Account plus notes. You also need to complete a Corporation Tax return.

This should give you an idea

Although I am always advocating doing own accounts on here I would agree it is not a great idea initially. After a couple of years you will have some professional accounts you can check your methods against.

Minimum should be Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and accompanying notes. Advisable to seek professional advice from an Accountant

I suppose it woulld be utterly pointless to suggest you ask your accountant. You do have an accountant? No? Ah. Nuff said...
