They've been pot luck for years. No one has produced one that is to be relied on yet. Use them as a rough guide and that's it is the general advice.

The problem with any of those calculators is that they'll rely on assumptions. For instance, if you're outside IR35, what expenses do you have? If you're inside IR35, how much do you want to put in pension contributions (via salary sacrifice)? Bear in mind that we're now halfway through the tax year, so whatever you've been doing for the past 6 months will affect your total income for the year. That might make the difference between being in the 20% or 40% tax bracket.

My advice is to do your own calculations in a spreadsheet, then you can get predictions that are tailored to your circumstances.

    IR35 calculators

    Seeking a decent IR35 calculator.

    contractorcalculator has 2:
    "old"
    https://www.contractorcalculator.co....alculator.aspx
    "new"
    https://www.contractorcalculator.co....alculator.aspx

on the new one it say "NOTE: The tax calculations under the old Off-Payroll legislation are different, and are higher for the contractor. Please use our IR35 Calculator if you wish to calculate your tax under the old legislation."

I'm mystified by this. Both old and new calculators have an inside/outside toggle. I presume they are talking about the 2021 changes but AFAIK there is no structural change if a contract is deemed outside in both cases just some changes to div and ct rates.

    Then there is this one
    https://www.itcontracting.com/calcul...35-calculator/
which seems questionable as the result table shows that some ct is payable under both the inside and outside scenerios....

and finally this one which might be decent at least i can't see anything obviously wrong with it
    https://www.uktaxcalculators.co.uk/ir35/calculator/

Anyone have any recommendations (and no comments about accountants needed) ?
