You are still just in time to amend 15/16. You can do it through your self asessment account.

But apart from that minor detail, I can see where you're coming from. Good luck with the accounting stuffs.
and the minor details that he already owned a factory, employed hundreds of engineers, and was loaded.

But seriously, guys, I am asking for some advice and got maybe 20% of serious answers. The rest seem to be nothing but jokes. Is is normal here?
The advice was: don't sue, don't try to do it yourself, get a recommended accountant.

The response we got is "that's not what I want to hear", so, tell us what you'd like to hear instead.

Absolutely not. We pride ourselves on our consistency.. which is normally 10% of serious answers so corrective action will have to be taken. Please accept our apologies for this deviation from the norm.

Seriously though. Just because you got stuffed by a £2k a year accountant it doesn't mean that all accountants are bad. You just are better off with one that specialises in your circumstances (simple accounts, small number of invoices, easy/no VAT, one set of SA and PAYE to do). These guys have the tools to do it. They do occasionally make mistakes and it's still your responsibility.
And they keep up to date with new legislation.

Yes, de-registered, my bad. Corporation Tax has already been sorted, rather without errors...

You're probably right, HMRC don't like to be bothered. You're actually doing them a favour by not doing it properly, because they are busy at the moment and won't want to add to their workload by having to deal with it.

Maybe they will even give you a special present for being so nice and not bothering them, you never know

I am afraid that I am more qualified than those 2 accountants "taking care" of my last 3 years accounts. I am planning to write a proper review about both of them once I have got a minute. For example 2016/2017 was "taken care" by Foremans LLP - Foremans LLP Accountancy, Tax and Administration - I have chosen the most expensive plan they have got, over £2000/year, all included so I don`t have to worry about anything. And guess what?

Out of 3 VAT returns that they have done for me, I found that 2 were done wrong (thank God I checked them BEFORE submission). My "personal advisor" was a graduate with 1 month of experience (I found her at LinkedIn) as I was a bit surprised that for first few months she was able to answer only "I am not sure, let me speak with our accountant". Now at the end of the year, the dividend that they want to submit for me doesn`t match what I have taken out of my account and their record is over £1800 higher. I probably found why, they once sent me the same day 2 completely different advices covering the same month, sent to me by 2 different persons. I probably just followed one of them but now they summed up both. When I asked last week about that, they don`t even bother to answer anymore and just kept saying that I need to follow their record, and they don`t seem to care that I have taken out less. I was sending my bank statements regularly so they could have checked it (but I am sure they don`t, which VAT example showed me clearly). On top of that when I was going through this over the phone with my "professional personal advisor", she was very surprised about one of my Salary Payment which had unusual value. I told her that it was paid as per their payment advice sent to me for this month, she didn`t believe, so I sent her this pay advice with this exact value - she didn`t come back to me since...

So guys, with all due respect, but I really think that I will take care of my money better than those useless accountants, especially that I don`t have any complicated income, like properties etc. I have got just Salary, Dividend and Expenses, I resigned even from VAT, so it should be pretty simple. After something like that I just simply can`t trust any accountant when I have to check everything 3x myself anyway.

    BTW.

My 2015/2016 accountant answered my email. The situation looks interesting. He sent me the breakdown with dividend dates and it seems that he included this £5000 and on top of that £1500 from 1.04.2015 that I though he included in 2014/2015 tax year, but he didn`t include £6000 from 4.04.2016. The problem is that when I checked his calculation, it looks clearly that he included £6000 from 4.04.2016 INSTEAD of £1500+£5000 from 1.04.2015 and 27.04.2015, as there is £500 difference between his calculation and his dividends breakdown... I just can`t find words to describe how pissed off I am.......

Now I am really not sure what to do. I don`t think there is any point to bother HMRC with £500 dividend difference (which would give like £150 tax) in 2015/2016 as I can just eventually include this £6000 in this tax year. Ehhhhhhhhh...

Regarding different tax rules now, I think that HMRC wouldn`t mind as now there is a higher tax on dividends than in 2015/2016.

    EDIT:

https://www.gov.uk/self-assessment-t...ns/corrections - YEAH, last minute... from now on I will be doing all my accounts myself, no one will take care of my money as good as me.

I have got to find some info on how to sue an accountant as those two idiots were just completely useless, I was constantly picking up their errors, that was just ridiculous...
Forget suing anyone. That's just vanity and pride. Think about the business.

Get your current accountant to fix this. In that totally fails then get a new accountant (plenty of recommendations on these boards), but bear in mind, you have 2 days and they are all very busy, so it's going to cost you. Hence why I suggest using the one who knows your books.

Forget doing this alone. It's a bad idea and if you've let one accountant get you in this mess you're clearly not skilled or qualified to do it yourself.

I'm not convinced that that follows.

My gut feeling is that there is come kind of penalty due for not declaring the SA accurately, and then interest on the tax that is overdue. You could ring them and ask what to do?

I'd think that it will need to be along the lines of completing this year accurately and then reopening the previous year(s) that are incorrect and revisiting those accounts.
