It's a "plan B" where we sell a product at the same time as my contracting. Not big bucks. We have lots of repeating subscription payments that were getting a bit too time consuming to invoice - hence FreeAgent which has sorted all that hassle. We're very much spreadsheets for tracking clients - I'd like something a bit more "professional".

pm me if you want a discussion - i'm looking for a niche or 2 with guinea pig customers (sideline to kickstart my consultancy whilst jetting round Europe for MS)...

Are you running an accountancy firm? We're trialling Senta at the moment (very much geared towards accounting firms). Very early days, but I'd say 10/10 for promise, 9/10 for support, 5/10 for intuitiveness.Originally posted by Lewis View PostTalking of CRM - we have about 100 clients and have just moved to Freeagent which is working well for the financials but I think we need a CRM also. Can anyone make a recommendation?
To date we've been using Capsule. Basically only as a bog standard database. It's cheap and cheerful, but my main issues with it are:
- API seems very ropey (or possibly our developers are rubbish...hard to tell), but we're struggling to link other things up with it reliably.
- I can't really see that it's progressed in the 5+ years we've been using it.
- I'm sure it could do more than we currently use it for, but I'd give it 2/10 for intuitiveness.
I do appreciate that CRMs are perhaps harder to make intuitive than something like FreeAgent, as the latter basically has to follow very rigid rules, whereas the former is typically very open and each customer can use it in an entirely different way to others. Still...they could do with some useful examples of things it can be used for, together with a how to set it up, and people could then create tailored things based on those.

I spoke to them at Accountex a year ago. They seemed very convinced that it was the way forward, and they'd got VC funding so presumably some rich people agreed.
For me it seemed to be nothing new, basically just copying a bunch of things that already exist and selling them as one package. Like NLUK says, I think it's aimed at accountants. They'll get all the accounts/tax software they need, but it's also got a CRM, and then a bookkeeping app they can provide to clients.
Presumably it all integrates together nicely...but I also imagine each component is unlikely to be as good as the market leader in that field (ie Jack of all trades). For us, we're heavily linked with FreeAgent, so any prospect of moving away from them is basically a no go. We are trialling a new CRM which promises much more than our existing one, but it's early days.
Good luck to them though. I imagine for firms (like us) already with several toes in the cloud it's perhaps not appealing, but may be more so for firms either just starting up and want an "all-in-one", or more traditional firms trying to make a big change.

Reading through the offerings it appears its for accountants. I don't see anything about portals for the client to use so not as self service as Freeagent.
For example it says..
*Unlimited Bookkeeping accounts -*No restriction on the number of bookkeeping clients you can set up
Also says auto bank feed of clients accounts.
Looks like it's automating the accountants job rather than allowing the clients to run their own like Freeagent.

Anyone have any opinions of this software? I was using Crunch quite happily but then fell out of love with them. I'd never heard of Nomisma until today and it looks to tick all of the boxes, but it also seems to be much cheaper than Xero, FreeAgent et al.
