Santander does not require 2FA, so it's completely automated and is always up-to-date in FreeAgent.
HSBC does require 2FA which is a huge pain in the arse.

+1 for HSBC its quicker to download and upload the Quicken QIF files manually.

Does Santander require two-factor authentication? If so, then its not really automated, you still need to be present, click the button and enter your 6 digit code (this is how it works with HSBC anyway). Also the usual caveats about whether using Yodlee may violate your banking terms.

How simple / robust / fool proof are the Santander bank feeds?

I have a client who wants his PA to be able to see transactions on his company Santander account.

Is it just press and go via Yodlee once login is stored? My colleague who knows more about freeagent than me thinks it involves CSV exports and imports.

We are just getting to grips with FA, onyl had the induction training this week.

I have Santander bank feed and I love it. It automatically updates about 3am in the morning. Can't remember when I set that up, I was definitely doing it manually at one point. I seem to remember many moons ago I had a few times where I was told it was unavailable but it's totally fine now. Up to date every day I log on.

It did ask me for some information at the start but never does now.,

We use BrightPay for our non FA clients, very straightforward and I believe they now have a cloud option.

We use moneysoft payroll and it will do weekly, 2 weekly and monthly, plus RTI and anything you need.

Very easy to use and functional too.

Cheers. We use MOneysoft for our existing bureau work. I'm not sure if they do a cloud option though. What I'm going to need is something prospective client can use and we can check.

I haven't used it, so can't recommend or otherwise, but there is a 30 day free trial so you could have a play and see if it meets your client's needs.

We used a payroll system which was £140 or so per year for ~400 1,2 or 3 person payrolls. I can't remember the name but it was extremely functional and good value. I think I it may be moneysoft. I'll check.

You probably know I'm a firm FreeAgent advocate, but part of me thinks that for non VAT registered sole traders not needing a payroll, it's arguably overkill. That's not to say it can't cater to them, far from it, but there will be simpler and cheaper options.

Definitely agree that from the accountant's perspective makes life easier if you have everyone using the same system.

Looking at the portal rate for a sole trader, I'm not sure there will be much cheaper without going to the absolute freebies, the Waves of this world, which I have reservations about.

Definitely only monthly payroll which is a bit annoying. Although it did force us to convince our weekly clients to monthly so probably saved us a lot of time in the long run.

Thanks Alan. I have a right pickle here where it seems the existing accountant is running weekly payroll monthly, and the employer is deducting estimated deductions for some staff, or deducting them a month in arrears for other staff. Sweet...
