If the IR never took any action in court, everyone would take the p1ss.

The cost of losing a few cases has to be set against the 'wins' that never get that far.

I do conceed that this particular one has gone too far though.

No, at the moment the highest civil court in the land found for Arctic Systems, totally and unanimously dismissed hector's argument and awarded costs against them. Even if the HoL appeal fails, Arctic will only be liable for the back tax Hector claims is due.

The HoL appeal is a political move, not a legal one. Apart from anything else, were Hector to win at the Lords the total tax now in dispute is around £7k - hardly justifies a £0.5m appeal hearing, does it?

Not exactly news. We knew it would be scheduled for that period last January. As soon as Arctic and the PCG hear the actual date, I expect we'll all be told VERY LOUDLY!

Basically implies that the case is unlikely to be heard before xmas therefore leaving another year's tax uncertain.
