Tea has been M&S pre-digested chicken chasseur, with chips and peas. Nice enough
And lunch was an M&S steak slice, which was OK but not as good as a Greggs steak bake - maybe not even quite as good as the Pukka variant, though close
It’s sunny yet also cloudy out, and going to be a hot one: already at 24°C, it’ll reach 28° for much of the afternoon. There’s a bit of a breeze, but not as much as yesterday. The barometers are up a bit at 1007/1015mB
Tonight’s reading was more of Parable of the Talents in which their remote community is gradually expanding, though usually because of some hideous tragedy befalling other people
Accompanying this, a series called Homicide on Netflix which is basically NYPD detectives talking about old cases, the first being the murder of Jennifer Stahl and two of her friends in 2001
The new jump-start battery pack thing I’d bought looks a lot chunkier and generally competent than the cheaper old ones, and sure enough, it got it started without batting an eyelid and still showed a full charge afterwards when I plugged it...
I’m off work this week, so you can expect the somewhat gloomier weather to continue for a bit longer
Strays - ”A homeless man, a lost cat, and a 3600 mile journey.” Michael King rescued a lost cat, which travelled around the USA with him for nearly a year before he found out where it lived
Another cloudy and breezy one, and I think there’s been a shower or two overnight and early morning; no more expected, but they said that yesterday and I think there may have been a brief and very light one in the evening. It might brighten up a little later in...
And tonight I finished The Parable of the Sower in which they managed to get somewhere there was a possibility of building a life on the ruins of society, and started on The Parable of the Talents in which the saga continues ...
There’s quite a bit of cloud but some of it is clearing, so it’s tending towards sunny spells. There was a brief shower not long ago, though nothing more along those lines is expected. It’s also very breezy, so the current 19°C “feels like” 15° and the...
This afternoon’s wildlife viewing was largely on dry land, though for some reason they brought David Attenborough back despite having just spent a month repeating everything they had involving him
And in Parable of the Sower, things still aren’t going well for anybody ...
It’s a sunny day, with clumps and wisps of cloud here and there. Looks like there’s a bit of a breeze too. It’s 25°C which is the high for the day, and the barometers are down to 995/1003mB
Tonight’s major motion picture premiere was The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026) which was, perhaps inevitably, not as good as the original. It was still pretty good! I enjoyed it, but it was very much a sequel, not a story in its own right. That must be hard to do though. They managed it with The Godfather...
Lunch: nothing yet, as I thought I’d get something when I went shopping. But first I had to wait for the pharmacist to call
They did, a few minutes before the nominal appointment time, and reckoned I should stop taking the new tablets for a week and they’ll call me then to...
