My internet is slow as I am downloading lots.... but look at the post number!

I seemed to recall NF recommending Eclipse as an IDE; and the PHPEclipse plugin seems to have good reviews.

So downloading that. Plus a XP SP3 with IE8 VHD from MS to try this out in; plus a backup of the site I am meant to be playing with.
