    Afternoon, Nick!

    I almost had to PM you for some PHP help - turned out that one of the files on MrsF's site had been compromised

    And the .htaccess had some junk in there that then caused an Internal Server Error.

    I'm a bit worried about it all, to be honest.

        Definitely check out that link I posted - seems to be describe what you're seeing, and looks to be a known "hack".
        Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

          Going back to your JS crack, a quick way of seeing if any dodginess is going on is to run an HTTP debugging proxy like Fiddler (Windows only) or Charles (anything). Have a browse around the site and see if there are any unexpected domains being connected to.

          You can also use the "Net" tab in Firebug, although I tend to prefer something independent of the browser for detailed HTTP checking.

              Have you tried uploading a straightforward HTML file? If you can access that OK, then try a simple PHP file:
              Code:
              <?php
              echo 'Hello';
              ?>
              - if that breaks, then it looks like a dodgy PHP configuration.

              Try grabbing everything off the site and running it locally - the Apache error log might hold some clues.
              Thanks - it was something in the .htaccess file that was the problem this time.

              Problem before that was the wordpress automatic upgrader not working properly.

              One before that was the PHP / javascript error.

              But it seems to be working for the moment (and I do mean moment!!).

                    VF - you're a star. It's exactly the problem that I've had, and I've forwarded the link to Hostgator.

                    Now - how do I stop it happening again??

                    The php page has permissions set to 644, and I can't see the .htaccess file through Hostgator to see what their permissions is set to.
