Client has realised that they need me (thankfully!) as no-one knows what the functional requirements are for my part of the system apart from me They are very understanding and are just saying to come back soon, but not before I'm back to full health.
The cynic in me says that they want to defer my part of the project for another three months because no-one is ready for it, and I've just given them the perfect excuse to do it. I'm not fussed really - even if they turned round and terminated the contract now (which is meant to run to the end of March), I'm not going to rush back before I'm fit again.
I'm telling agents that I'm available from the end of January to hedge all my bets - if I'm still ill (God forbid!) then I should be OK by then; if the client terminates early then I won't go back before then (plan B time!); if I'm back and they don't terminate early, then I'll just say that there's another two month extension on offer.Comment
