                      Evening all

Guess who just came around to the house

It was just one of the CID chaps this time, making sure he knew which keys fitted which padlocks - it didn't occur to them to label them in any way

Apparently Flat 1 will not be returning, having been provided with alternative accommodation complete with fitted bars to the windows. This is due to an incident subsequent to the incident round here.

Flat 4 may be returning, but if he does, the Police wouldn't mind knowing about it as they have suitable alternative accommodation lined up for him, too.

They also reckon that they're close to collaring the guys who came round and started it all in the first place

And to add to the mix, I just had a chat with my upstairs neighbour. He was about to go out the other day when he heard the plain clothes officers briefing the uniformed squad about the search of the other three flats they were about to undertake.

Being a sensible chap, he kept quiet and eavesdropped on it all from round the corner. It appears that a mate of the guys from here was kidnapped off the street by the baddies, and taken off and beaten by them in an attempt to obtain information about something or other

Anyway, it all seems to be winding down now. The chap from Flat 1's mother is apparently coming round to retrieve his stuff. Flat 4 is still indeterminate.

The managing agent chappy came round to do running repairs to the front door, which wasn't locking. Chap upstairs showed him around the damage and told him as much as he knew - the agent appeared extremely shaken.

Well he might; myself and upstairs had to give references and even produce bank statements to get tenancies here. Those other chaps got their places because they were doing some labouring work for a building business associate of the agent. If he'd stuck to proper procedures they'd never have got in in a million years... and he wouldn't be stuck with extensive repairs to make. Hopefully they'll revert to renting the flats to people of some standing in society in the future.

Oh, and a bailiff came around for Flat 4 today, because of unpaid Council Tax. He's a week too late, methinks
