Yup, she was happy with the cash... although I then had to endure all the usual gubbins: "Can you afford this? You're not working are you?"

In fact, given that none of the family have ever managed to get the faintest grasp of what contracting is all about, I've had that sort of thing off everybody all weekend

"Are you looking for a job?"

"When are you going to start looking for a job?"

"Do you think it'll be easy to get another job?"

Luckily - well, wrong word, but you know what I mean - other parts of the family unit are cracking up/breaking up/suffering in various ways, which meant that a lot of attention was devoted to their worries instead, so I got off fairly lightly - my incomprehensible lifestyle seems comparatively mundane in comparison to everybody else's turmoil.
