We're going up the Rockefeller instead of the Empire State. I've read some bad reports of the trip up the Empire State along the lines of :-

• Queue for ticket
• Queue for lift to 80th
• Queue for lift to 86th observation deck
• Queue for life back to 80th (or queue on stairs to walk back to 80th)
• Queue for lift back to bottom
• Queue to see the photos they've taken of you that you probably don't want to buy anyway

Shame you just can't use the stairs

When are you going?

I've heard some bad reports too - just kinda hope if we get there early enough it will be ok!!

We are going 26th Nov - be there for Thanksgiving! My aunt lives there so we are spending the evening with her and her husbands family....

It's "Workin' from home" Fridayyy!

CM - Useful tip for planning your trip to NY. I thought of this the other night and did it with my daughter. Made planning the days so much easier.

Go to Google Maps and create your own map.

Add all the places you want to see onto the map (they appear as markers on the map).

Once you've added them all you can see which ones are close together making it easy to plan to spend a day (or part day) in a certain district knowing that you will visit all of the places you want to and minimising the travelling between them.

When we added ours on we could see little clusters of places we wanted to go and have planned accordingly.
