I've just fixed a radio cassette recorder/player thingie.
There wasn't really anything much wrong with it, since it worked when you plugged some batteries into it.
However, someone had soldered (badly) some wires to the mains input figure of 8 connector thingie... and there's a little switchy thingie inside the connector thingie that enables mains power & disconnects the batteries.
Once I'd removed the wires it worked ok off the mains.
Sounds quite nice too.
Though while I had it in bits, I squirted some switch cleaner into the volume control to clear the crackles.Comment
