Unless it's niche / new technology / you really need Oracle consulting to do something, then I'd see what you can get from the contract market to implement.

Having Oracle on board is useful for if things are going to go tits up and you need a quick line into support, but otherwise there isn't much benefit. One of the things I learned from working for Oracle

Virgin seems to have all sorts of bother at the moment.

Even using Google DNS, there are sites that I can't get to easily - connect to the work VPN and I get there fine.

I'm sat in a consultancy. There is no point doing licence and installation only as it will do me out of a renewal. I want customisation as that equals money.

Plus it doesn't standard functionality doesn't work. They want HR reports and some of the standard data fields types make no sense to man nor beast.

Its wrong. I'm not sure on what scale of wrong but my inkling its towards the very deep breath side of wrong.

Maybe I should suggest to the directors that they replace the CFO or the controller with a roomfull of minimum wage temps who've all done a correspondence course in basic bookkeeping. It would provide plenty cheapness and be consistent with the approach of getting software built, administered and tested by Bob Shawadiwadi.

                      It's the sensible solution.
