Went to Kent last weekend for the first time, ever. Loved Canterbury, and to be honest, preferred Whitstable over Margate, but the best bit was a 2 hour walk along the top of the white cliffs of Dover. We tried the cliff path, but fortunately wifey was too scared to continue, so I didn't have to fight my own fears

Hi BP, yes divorced (but since re-married). Have 1 daughter and ex gives me pretty much unlimited access although it tends to be 1 day a weekend although I am moving away from the area so will probably end up being 1 full weekend every couple of weeks.

Ex is being pretty reasonable (although it was her that left to have an affair). I think it came as a shock to her that I met someone else, especially as my daughter really likes my new wife. Ex's safety net had suddenly vanished (i.e. I wasn't waiting around for her to come back).

Yes, the promanade is wide and flat. The main shopping street, just a street or so back from the prom is mainly pedestrian zone too.

It is about 5 years since I last went but it had a lovely feel about the place. Fairly quiet.

The gf is a chef - she loved digging out the apple recipe. Apparently it is melting the butter that sets off the reaction.
