Ubuntu

This is driving me potty.

The USB stick had a DOS partition on it.

The Ubuntu installation shrank that partition and added another.

My cunning plan now is to delete the empty DOS partition and make the other partition fill the USB stick.

But: every time I dismount the drive in GPartEd, the opsys automatically re-mounts it.

That's not too different from my VirginMedia broadband.

What's the speed like?

Depends on what the mobile signal is like in your area. Fastest is Vodafone with 7.5Mbps; three is 3.6Mbps maximum.
