The project manager asked me to review the project cutover plan, which is a locked spreadsheet I can't edit.

Step 1. I take a copy of the spreadsheet.
Step 2. I look for where my name is mentioned.
Step 3. I notice about 20 tasks I have no idea what they are about...

I contact the PM. "Oh yes, they have your name on them, but they are marked n/a. I just copied a previous project plan and did a find & replace to put your name in."
Me: "Would it be an idea to remove the n/a ones?"
"No, can't do that, we might need them"
Me: "OK, then we need to add in 5 new steps"
"You're going to have to explain the steps in detail to justify adding them in to the plan"
Me: "OK, these ones are basic configuration, not sure how they could have been missed in previous plans..."
"The original plan wasn't mine to start"
…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore

I have to say it never amazes me that Office is supposedly the de facto corporate software but so many people don't know how to use it.

Especially Outlook. It seems that things like calendars are a complete mystery.

'Tis all go at Strangelove Towers.

In a fit of madness I decided to connect up The Very Very expensive (in 1975) loudspeakers that haven't been connected to anything in a very long time which involved extracting the dining table from the living room (it's never used), moving various bits of jiggery pokery video stuff, dragging the computery jiggery pokery (Win3.1, Win2k) out of the corner, moving the 26" colour tv off The Very Expensive Loudspeakers so they can move into the living room, vacuuming the carpets thus exposed.

Now sitting down due to exhaustion.

Given another month I may get as far as connecting The Very Expensive Loudspeakers to sommat that might make a noise. .

                  No rush, like.

Just found a duplicate of a railway book I'd forgotten I had two of.

I think it's off to Oxfam when the panic has subsided a bit.
                  When the fun stops, STOP.

Like an idiot, I sold my Kef Concerto speakers in 2001, that I brought over from SA. The buyer sent a truck over from Germany to Kingston for them. £600 at the time and I thought I got a good price for them.

Gave away my Thorens turntable, and Sony reel-to-reel before I left Cape Town.
