I picked up some beef skirt from Sainsbury’s last Friday as an experiment, as it was dirt cheap. Just diced it up and bunged it in the InstantPot™, fried with onion to brown it, then some chopped-up spuds, herbs and pepper and stuff, and a can of beer for flavour. Forty minutes on high pressure, and I had a really nice stew for my tea

We never had "duck and cover" in this country since there was, in essence, no fecking point.
And "they" banned "The War Game" in the 1960s in case it frightened the horses.
The War Game (TV Movie 1966) - IMDb
The best place to be is ground zero.
I remember watching "Threads" back in the 80s which was pretty grim too.
Threads (TV Movie 1984) - IMDb
The septic version, in comparison, seemed almost jolly.
The Day After (TV Movie 1983) - IMDb
Especially since they could watch the minutemen and (then) Titan missiles leaving their silos shortly before the incoming Soviet tulipe vapourised them in turn.
The end of Terminator 3 shows this rather well.
Irrelevant now since "we" don't even have air raid sirens now.

Tonight’s viewing, after the rest of the thing about the Met during dinner, was more of I, Claudius: Poison Is Queen (TV Episode 1976) and Some Justice (TV Episode 1976).

In last night's Oak Island nutjob epic, they found wood.
Mud.
More wood.
What might be a coconut fibre.
More mud.
Something that might be a French military cap badge.
More mud.
The pilings to make the cove coffer dam are ongoing.
More mud.
Possible tunnel.
Some old lady called Xena or Zena popped her clogs at 88 and left a lifetime's research into the Knights Templar to the nutjobs.
All in all, a lot of mud.
And the crossbow bolt is now thought (by yet another nutjob) to be part of a roman spear tip.
What did the romans ever do for us?
Next week: more mud.

Tea this evening was more of yesterday's roast beef.
It was nice enough.
Accompanied by The Battle of the Somme outside.
"They" ban jacky jumpers and bangers, so instead we get Chinese fireworks with yields in the kiloton range.
Quite spoiled my enjoyment of my 1.05 pints of Good Glengettie Tea.
I hope the cats are bearing up under the strain.
At my age, I dream of finding wood.....Comment
