I was going to vac the crap out of the car but it's too goddamn hot to bother.

Maybe I'll do it this evening.

The light bulb stuck in the jam pickled onion jar had a meeting with a lump hammer and now resides at the bottom of said jar in little pieces.

The stuff on the line is nearly dry, including the jeans.

My new made to measure waders just arrived from L C Waders (Fishingwaders.co.uk) and they are impressive. £119 for waders that are a perfect fit. I shall be floating around in France & Spain in my belly-boat dry and comfortable for a change.

Right, that's quite enough "work" for one week. Time to get off the sofa and do something.

        Cup of tea perhaps.

Tea/dinner this evening is to be M&S breaded haddock.

I still can't figure out why it sticks to this new non stick pan I inherited.

The final tranche of mushrooms (non Magic, but Morrisons) is frying gently alongside.

The pot of Good Glengettie tea is brewing nicely and when the poppity ping goes ping, it'll all be ready.

Had a bit of a doze whilst listening to PM which got switched off for the inevitable gay bit.

The BBC seems obsessed with homosexuality and kiddy fiddling.

But then again, they have a history of both.

          <hiatus>

And the Archers managed to fit in a story about the latter.

          Stone me it's hot.

Just had a cold shower & it's already wearing off.

I suppose I'd better go & get the washing in since it's bone dry by now.

In other news, the M&S breaded haddock was quite acceptable.

Still very sunny out there, though there's been a light breeze which takes the edge off the heat a little

And thanks to the wispy cloud cover first thing, this side of the flat with the huge windows didn't get overly hot this morning, the sun having got a bit south before it got really bright.

With a bit of luck, the place won't become an oven before the cooler spell arrives on Sunday or Monday

Previously it had its back to the bay window, but now it's rotated about seventy degrees and moved further back towards the corner where the bay starts. This is partly so I stop getting distracted by spotting DHL's nightly arrival from Leipzig to EMA flying past outside at 7,000 feet at around five past midnight while I'm trying to concentrate on a film. But, in addition, and in conjunction with moving a whole load of other things around, it means that the ends of the soundbar, which are supposed to help project sound into the room, are no longer blocked by an armchair on one side and some boxes on the other. I'm quite looking forward to seeing if this makes any appreciable difference to the sound quality, which is the primary purpose of this massive adjustment to my way of life
Update on this: the liberation of the ends of the soundbar has indeed made a difference, in that I can watch stuff that doesn't have subtitles and actually hear what people are saying

And I can still see the flights heading to EMA; it's just that now I see them from when they're just north of Market Harborough and at about 10,000 feet, according to FlightRadar24

So there's this week's ep of "Wild Bill" duly watched, followed by the BBC prog in the "Wild West" series about The Gunfight at the OK Corral.

                Which was amusing enough.

                It's still ridiculously warm.

And upstairs it's even more ridiculously warm.

                Sleeping won't come easy tonight.

                Lovely mackerel sky this evening.

Which will keep it warmer than otherwise.

It would cool down quicker if it was clear.

22.5°C in my bedroom at the moment, and 23.1°C in the living room; both being about 50% humidity, which I assume is measured on that humidity scale that's relative to temperature or something, as the atmosphere in here doesn't feel particularly damp

Tea has been chicken dopiaza, with rice and a naan. Very tasty

Tonight's first feature was a rewatch of Contraband (2012), of which I previously said:

I expected this to be a reasonably entertaining action flick, but it turned out to be pretty damn good, and I recommend it if you're in the mood for things getting out of hand
and I stand by my earlier opinion.

And after that, a rewatch of the only film I've seen in a cinema this millennium, courtesy of Capital One, aka ClientCorp in Nottingham four years ago, as a reward for something or other the "team" of which I was a part there had achieved, though I honestly can't remember what that achievement was. Still, they must have liked it as they not only paid for the cinema ticket, they also allowed me to bill for the time. My review then was:

Late today, as we went to the pictures - my first visit to a cinema since Star Trek: First Contact which was, according to IMDB, in 1996.

It had dinosaurs this time. To my mind, they could have cut all the stuff at the start and end about the kids' parents. Their family was, frankly, not very interesting. And all that love interest crap could go too. They should have just gone straight in with dinosaurs being a bit menacing, then dinosaurs attacking everyone, then carry on with that until the end. Much better, and I could have got home earlier.

Oh, and all those shots of placid herbivorous dinosaurs grazing could go too. Frankly, grazing herbivores don't really make for an exciting cinematic experience when one drives past several fields of cows every day.

But once it got started and the blood was flowing and the bones were crunching, it was OK really
and again, I stand by it; it having been Jurassic World (2015). And they should be allowed ten minutes tops for scene-setting in these things, because all anybody really wants is a) dinosaurs, b) dinosaurs eating people, and c) the people from the first ten minutes getting away from the dinosaurs. And not everybody cares about c) either

                    Goodnight all

Just about comfortable in bed last night with the ceiling fan on 2nd setting. If it gets any warmer though I may need to put the air conditioning on. Very ungreen I know but I do drive a Land rover and a 2.8 jtd Ducato based Motorhome so I am already destined for fiery hell (wonder if I can take the portable air con with me ).

Tea was toasted crumpets, 2 poached eggs and 2 rashers of smoked streaky bacon.
