Oi! Fitz! She's actually very good value for money. Especially when you consider the alternatives.

One is partial to a Scotch broth. Especially when the pearl barley has almost dissolved - there's much less chewing/risk of getting bits stuck in one's teeth that way.

Knock at the front door just now, so I rushed down in case it was a parcel I was waiting for - and it was! New book by Tom Cox: 21st-Century Yokel

And the landlord/agent chap was in the hall about to do some odd job or other, and stopped me to tell me the rent's going up

Mind you, I've been here for nearly fourteen years and this is the first increase, and it's not even going up by very much. It leaves it a good chunk below what everybody else around here is paying, so I'm not particularly bothered

Yep, I've lost a stone since January merely by keeping track of what I eat - no actual dieting, exercise, or self-deprivation involved
