Tea this evening was the two stuffed breasts of lamb that have been festering in the fridge since I decided not to have them on Sunday.

The broccoli which had been festering on top of the washing machine since last Friday was well past its best and is on its way to the compost heap shortly.

The lamb could have done with a bit more cooking but I got fed up of waiting.

Off the A14 a few miles west of the A1, there's a petrol station between the main road and the road into the village of Spaldwick. A few months ago this closed and was demolished, and a much grander petrol station has been under construction.

It's nearly finished, and they've started fixing signs to the new shop. This afternoon, they'd just finished putting up… a Greggs sign!

I don't suppose I'll ever have any reason to go there, but it's nice to know it's an option

I did actually make a detour into Spaldwick one time, about four or five years ago maybe, because it had a village shop and deli that I'd seen recommended via Twitter. I got some very nice sausages, pies, and beers from there. Sadly it closed down some time between then and now

M&S Southern-USA-style chicken bits out of the freezer with chips and lashings of tomato sauce for dinner

I'm not sure which style they were supposed to be (I repacked them when I ate the rest of the packet a while ago), but I suspect Cajun, as the coating had a nice bit of a kick to it

And the new season Norfolk spuds really do make a superlative chip

While eating dinner, I whacked some sausage rolls in the oven, as it was hot. As I suspected, it was a little too high for them. Good job I like them tending towards (but not quite) burned

This evening's first feature was "Snatch" with Jason Statham et al.

                Snatch (2000) - IMDb

It was very good & lots of black humour.

                I laughed.

Followed by "The Truth about Charlie" with Thandie Newton and Mark Wahlberg.

The Truth About Charlie (2002) - IMDb

which was, apparently, a remake of "Charade".

                Charade (1963) - IMDb

It had Charles Aznavour in it as well.

"Charade" one may note, gets an 8 on imdb, whilst "The Truth about Charlie" gets a generous 4.8.

Ms Newton is toothsome but neither she nor Mr Wahlberg can compare with the originals, Mr Grant and Ms Hepburn.

                  Morning denizens

Bits of thin cloud out there, but a golden sun is shining through them over Sainsbury's Local

                      Hurrah!

Didn't wake up at 04:30 today mandating getting up at 05:45!

                      For this relief, much thanks.

Unusually, it's grey outside with no hint of sun.

                      What a surprise.
